frosted ginger cookies

Ingredients
  • COOKEIES
  • 1/3 cup butter, softened
  • 1 cup firmly packed brown sugar
  • 1 1/2 cups light molasses
  • 2/3 cup water
  • 6 cups flour
  • 2 tsp baking soda
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp allspice
  • 1 tsp ginger
  • 1 tsp cloves
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • FROSTIN
  • 5 cups sifted powdered sugar
  • 6 Tablespoons half and half
  • 2 tsp vanilla
  • 1/2 tsp salt
Steps
  1. 1.Cookies: Oven 350F. lightly greased baking sheet, 2 cup glass measure to flatten
  2. 2. Cream butter and brown sugar; blend in molasses and water.
  3. 3. Combine dry ingredients (i'd sift together) Stir into creamed mixture.
  4. 4. refrigerate covereed, severl hours or overnight.
  5. 5. Shape 2 level tablespoons dough into balls (faster use level 1/8 cup coffee scoop to measure out cokie dough.); place 4 inches apart on baking sheet. Flatten with bottom of sugared 2 cup glass measure.
  6. 6. Bake just until no fingerprint remains when lightly touched , 12 to 14 minutes.. cool on baking sheet 1 minute.. Remove to rack. Frost when cooled.. store between sheets of waxed paper in toghtly covered container;
